Nair's gift for o! bservation of the everyday and her love for her characters mak! e for a delightful film, which spins a web of family relationships that knit and break during a wedding at a perfect pace. The excellent performances exceed the often stereotypical roles on offer (including the incomparable Nasiruddin Shah as the harassed father, Kulbhushan Kharbanda as the comic uncle, and Shefali Chaya as the orphaned cousin). Nair's sympathetic eye for the unnoticed and the harassed is at its best with the tender romance between the servant and Dube (Vijay Raaz), the marigold-munching, upwardly mobile wedding coordinator, who brings pathos and humor to the often unseen servant classes. The handheld camera gives a docudrama feel to this celebratory look at the upper-middle-class Hindu Punjabi joint family, while paying tribute to modern Indian public culture of music, television, and, of course, "Bollywood." --Rachel DwyerFrom understanding the significance of the Hindu wedding ceremony to step-by-step planning and finding resources, this book helps to-be-w! eds and their families plan and enjoy the most important event of their life. Of course there are hitchesâ€"Aditi has been having an affair with a married TV host; she’s never met her husband to be, who lives in Houston; the wedding has worsened her father’s hidden financial troubles; even the wedding planner has become a nervous wreckâ€"as well as buried family secrets. From the time my marriage was decided till the actual marriage took place I did not have any source from whom I could get all the required details. I had to visit numerous stores, bookshops, boutiques, websites, etc in order to get the information I desired. I was truly clueless about marriage events, shopping for my trousseau, venues and my budget.
For some people the answer might be â€! œWhy don’t you get a Wedding Planner who can take care of al! l these hassles?” True but does everyone in India have that much budget to hire one and secondly after I hire a wedding planner, I might have limited options to choose from.
I came across of books related to weddings but all of them were based on Western Culture which clearly has a different concept with regards to their preparations, invitations and events. I somehow could not relate with these books since our Indian way of wedding is very elaborate and grand
Indian Bridal Guide caters not only to the bride but to her beau and family as well. I hope this book be of assistance to future brides and make their D-day memorable in their lifetime.
This book is written with the aim to start a series of Essential guide range which in future will cover more topics relevant to Indian Women. Hope this effort of mine is well presented and unique than other subjects that you have come across.
Indian Bridal Guide will be one of its kind in the market that wraps up all a! spects required in making arrangement for your own wedding. Target market would be women who have just got their marriage date set or who will be getting married soon. Thousands of marriages take place every month on the Indian soil as well as among the Indians settled abroad hence making a wide market available for this book. We have numerous books on weddings in the market but none relevant to the Indian way of Wedding till now. Let’s make the Indian Wedding noticeable.
